In Hickey's freshman season, she was an All-Summit League selection, Summit League Freshman of the Year, received Summit League All-Freshman honors, and helped get her team to their first outright Summit League regular-season championships. In her sophomore season, she was the 2013 Summit League All-Conference Performer and was named to the Summit League All-Tournament Team Selection after helping IUPUI win the Summit League Tournament. She also set the single-season record for solo blocks with 28. As a junior, Hickey was named an AVCA Honorable-Mention All-American to become the program's first All-American selection. She was named to the AVCA All-North Region Selection, named an All-Summit League performer, and was selected to the Summit League All-Tournament Team. Additionally, she earned the Michael A. Carroll Scholarship. In her final season as a senior, she was an Honorable-Mention All-American, named the Summit Player of the Year, AVCA All-North Region for the second straight year, first player in the Summit League and IUPUI history to amass at least 1,500 career kills and 1,500 career digs. She is also the Mel Garland Distinguished Student-Athlete award recipient. 

Academically, she has made appearances on the IUPUI Academic Advisor list, Academic All-Summit League, and Summit League Commissioners List of Academic Excellence.
