INDIANAPOLIS - After a rough start dropping their first five games in conference play, the Jaguars are heading to South Dakota looking to pick up their first conference victory of the 2016 season. IUPUI will have three games against South Dakota with a double-header on Saturday (April 9) and finish up the series with the Coyotes on Sunday (April 10).
IUPUI (10-22, 0-5 Summit)
The Jags make the trip to Vermillion, S.D., having lost six straight games, including a mid-week matchup against Notre Dame their last time out. In the 11-3 loss to the Irish,
Ali Mosier and
Kaitlynn Moody both hit home runs for IUPUI.
Mosier leads the way in home runs for the Jags with eight home runs on the season and has moved to second on the team with 18 RBI.
Taylor Chitwood is currently tops on the team in average (.326) and RBI (24) while being second on the team with four home runs. Moody and
Morgan Schlobohm are hitting .318 and .300 respectively for a team that is only hitting .256 on the year.
Maggie Good has hit safely in five games, which is the longest current streak on the roster.
Moody has taken the lead in ERA for
Amanda Rivera's pitching staff, now sitting at 3.73.
Brooke Boetjer is right behind Moody at 3.80. Boetjer still leads the team in wins (6) and strikeouts (64) in a team high 90.1 innings pitched.
South Dakota (9-26, 4-2 Summit)
The Coyotes kicked off their Summit League schedule with 2-1 series wins against both IPFW and Western Illinois but dropped their last game they played against the Leathernecks 3-2.
Yvon Minogue is the bright spot in the South Dakota lineup that is only hitting .241 on the year. Minogue is hitting .402 and also leads the team with six home runs. Minogue is second in RBI (18) behind Sydney Hancock who has 21 RBI and five home runs.Â
Madison Frain is the leader in the circle for the Coyotes with a 7-9 record in 18 starts. Frain also leads the staff with a 4.55 ERA. Behind Frain, South Dakota has struggled this year. Rachel Cue has made the second most starts on the team (14) but has a 6.23 ERA and is 1-14 on the season.Â
Game one of this series is scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET start on Saturday (April 9) with game two to follow. The series wraps up with game three starting a noon ET on Sunday (April 10).
