INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indy softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Northern Kentucky on Friday, falling 4-3 in game one before a 7-4 defeat in game two at the IU Indy Softball Field.
Â
In the opener, the Jaguars jumped out early thanks to a two-run home run from
Callie Dickerson in the first inning, giving IU Indy a 2-1 lead.
Â
The Norse answered with a run in the fourth and took control in the sixth, plating two runs to go ahead for good. IU Indy threatened in the seventh, getting a sacrifice fly from
Molly Kable to pull within one, but couldn't complete the comeback.
Adeline Blackwell led the Jags at the plate with three hits, while Dickerson drove in two runs.
Â
Alexa Holman took the loss for the Jags giving up just three earned runs on five hits and six strikeouts in the complete game.
Â
Game two saw IU Indy strike first again, scoring three runs in the opening frame behind RBI hits from
Kennedy Cowan,
Sonia Ruchala, and
Kinsey Pfeiffer.
Â
Northern Kentucky responded with a pair of runs in the third before taking the lead in the fourth on a two-run home run from Peyton Mueller-Stenz. The Norse added three more runs in the sixth to create separation.
Â
IU Indy tallied 10 hits in the loss, including multi-hit performances from Holman and
Kinsey Pfeiffer, but defensive miscues proved costly.
Â
With the losses, IU Indy falls to 7-39 on the season and will close out the three-game series—and the 2026 campaign—on Saturday. First pitch for Senior Day is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
