INDIANAPOLIS – Hoping to change their fortunes and end what has become a nine-game losing streak, the IUPUI softball team (10-25, 0-8) will host a mid-week, non-conference doubleheader against Wright State Wednesday (April 13) at 4 p.m. at the IUPUI Softball Complex.
The Jaguars are coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of South Dakota (April 9-10) in Vermillion, South Dakota this past weekend, dropping close games by three runs, one run, and two runs, respectively.
This season, IUPUI has been led by
Taylor Chitwood with a .320 batting averaging, collecting 32 hits in 100 at bats while posting a team-best 28 runs batted in (RBIs).
Ali Mosier has clubbed a team-high eight home runs while picking up 72 total bases and 25 runs scored.
Morgan Schlobohm has led the team on the base paths this year, nabbing 10 stolen bases on 13 attempts.
In the circle, senior pitcher
Brooke Boetjer has made 20 appearances on 16 starts, posting team-highs in earned run average (3.59), wins (6), complete games (10), innings pitched (103.1), and strikeouts (74).
Kaitlynn Moody has made nine starts and 16 appearances, throwing two complete games while posting a 3.94 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 53.1 innings of work.
This season, Wright State has posted a 23-15 overall record while going 8-1 in Horizon League play. Riding a six-game winning streak, the Raiders are coming off back-to-back sweeps of Marshall and Cleveland State. WSU features five players batting north of .300, as the team has combined to outhit their opposition .301 to .273. The pitching staff features a stout 2.53 combined ERA, as three pitchers have made at least nine starts and pitched at least 77.2 innings.
All-time against Wright State, IUPUI has a 6-6 record, splitting a doubleheader against the Raiders last season (April 28) with scores of 7-0 and 0-5.
