INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis women's track and field squad will compete in its final regular season meet this weekend as the Jaguars participate in the Heartland Invitational inside the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion on both Friday (Feb. 13) and Saturday (Feb. 14). The Jaguars will have a full roster in action, seeking final marks ahead of the upcoming Horizon League Indoor Championships.
The Jaguars will compete in five different events on Friday, beginning with
Skyler Sichting in the 60m hurdles and freshman
Sarah Madi-Bouabre in the 60m dash. Madi-Bouabre set the program record in her collegiate debut with a time of 7.60 seconds.
In the 3,000m event, senior
Julie Smith checks in with a personal best time of 10:17.65 and sophomore
Ella Colclesser owns a personal best time of 10:31.89. The Jags will put six competitors in the 200m event with sophomore
Jahzara McAlister has run 58.11 and redshirt freshman
Skylar Ferry owns a personal best time of 1:00.22.
In the high jump, senior
Jada-Marie Davis owns the school record with a best mark of 1.66m (5' 5.25'') while
Journey Howard has jumped 1.63m (5' 4.25'').
On Saturday, the events will open with five Jaguars in the mile, led by freshman
Kaylynn Bedel's personal best time of 5:16.18 and classmate
AnnMarie Gibson owns a best time of 5:23.24. In the 200,
Pa'Shence Purnell holds a personal best time of 25.82 and
Wini Barnett is the top entry in the 800m having run 2:16.19.
Bedel,
Emily Bruns and
Carina Alanis are also slated for the 5,000m event later on Saturday while the Jaguars quartet of McAlister, Ferry,
Sophia Palmer and Barnett are entered in the 4x400 relay.
Senior
Reese McCuan will compete in the triple jump where she already owns the school record of 11.46m (37' 7.25'').
