INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis women's track and field team will compete inside the comfortable confines of the Fall Creek Pavilion this weekend as the Jaguars participate at the Fairgrounds Invitational on Friday (Feb. 6) and Saturday (Feb. 7).
On Friday, sprinters and hurdlers will set the stage, competing early in the day with the finals later that evening.
Pa'Shence Purnell leads the team's entries in the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 9.03 seconds while freshman
Sarah Madi-Bouabre is tops among the entries in the 60m dash, having set the school record with a time of 7.60 seconds earlier this season. In the 3,000m event, senior
Carina Alanis is best among the team's four entries, having run 10:50.58 previously. True freshman
Kaylynn Bedel clocked a time of 10:58.63 earlier this season as all four of the team's entrants will compete in the second heat.Â
Freshman
Sophia Palmer is the lone entry in the 400m event on Friday, looking to lower her personal best time of 1:00.25. The team's business on the track will conclude with the distance medley relay on Friday night. Meanwhile, freshman
Elisa Algozine is the lone jumper in action on Friday, competing in the high jump.Â
On Saturday, Bedel and
Emily Bruns will cap a double with their entry in the mile and be joined by fellow freshman
AnnMarie Gibson.Â
Six Jags will run the 200m event with
Jahzara McAlister (25.66) and
Paige Schulte (25.98) being the fastest two among the entries. Both
Wini Barnett and
Hannah Robbins will run the 800m event on Saturday, followed by a team entry in the 4x400 relay.Â
In the field events,
Skyler Sichting is slated for the shot put on Saturday morning while school record holder
Reese McCuan will compete in the triple jump and
Jada-Marie Davis highlights four entries in the high jump.Â
