ROCHESTER, Mich. - The IU Indianapolis women's track and field team put a capper on a solid #HLTF Outdoor Championships on Sunday (May 10), continuing to pile up points on the meet's final day.
Freshman
Sarah Madi-Bouabre continued her spectacular meet with a fourth-place finish in the 100m dash, clocking a wind aided time of 11.90 seconds in the finals. She later added to the point total as well with an eighth-place finish in the 200m dash, crossing at 25.25 seconds.
Junior
Journey Howard placed sixth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.57 seconds after having already competed in high jump earlier in the day. She just missed scoring in the high jump with a best mark of 1.61m (5' 3.25''), tying for tenth overall. Freshman Peyton Gross also registered a personal best mark of 1.61m (5' 3.25''), tying for 12th overall.
Sophomore
Jahzara McAlister finished seventh in the 400m event with a personal best time of 56.89 seconds while
Paige Schulte was eighth at 58.52 seconds.
Freshman
Sophia Palmer earned an eighth-place finish in the 400m hurdles as one of two freshmen in the finals, posting a time of 1:06.28 on heavy legs.
In the 5,000m event, senior
Julie Smith led the way with a time of 18:03.88 and rookie
Kaylynn Bedel gutted out a personal best time of 18:34.75.
Emily Bruns finished at 19:35.28 and senior
Julynne Spidell was next in line at 19:43.61.
The Jags were feisty in the relays as well, placing fourth in the 4x100 to start the day with a time of 47.02 seconds. The group of Schulte, Madi-Bouabre, Palmer and McAlister broke the school record by four-tenths of a second in the process. The quartet of
Wini Barnett, Schulte, Palmer and McAlister closed the day with a seventh-place finish in the 4x400 relay, clocking a time of 3:54.47.
