LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The IU Indianapolis women's track and field squad put a strong finish on the three-day Jim Freeman / Clark Wood Open at the University of Louisville on Saturday (Apr. 25), setting a new school relay record and recording six other personal bests.
The quartet of
Wini Barnett,
Jahzara McAlister,
Sophia Palmer and
Paige Schulte continued to shed time in the 4x400 relay, spinning a time of 3:51.82 to break their own school record by four seconds. Earlier in the day, freshman
Sarah Madi-Bouabre just missed breaking the school record in the 100m dash with a personal best time of 11.95 seconds while McAlister ran a time of 12.43 seconds.
Similarly, junior
Journey Howard just missed breaking the school record in the 100m hurdles with a personal record time of 14.50 seconds and
Skyler Sichting ran 16.26 seconds.
Skylar Ferry was the team's lone entry in the 400m dash with a time of 59.30 seconds, missing a personal best by eight-hundredths of a second.
Both freshmen entered in the 1,500m event clocked new personal bests as
Riley Flynn finished at 4:59.07 and
AnnMarie Gibson closed at 5:03.12. The high jumpers also showed well as Howard cleared 1.58m (5' 2.25''), as did rookie Peyton Gross on way to a new personal best. Fellow freshman
Elisa Algozine posted a new personal best mark of 1.53m (5' 0.25'').
