INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis women's track and field team continued to pile up personal bests on Saturday (Feb. 7) as the Jaguars added 11 more to their two-day efforts at the Fairgrounds Invitational inside the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. All total, the Jaguars notched 16 new personal records over the course of the meet.

In the field events, senior Skyler Sichting set a new personal best mark in the shot put with a mark of 9.59m (31' 5.75''). In the high jump, junior Journey Howard led the way with a best jump of 1.59m (5' 2.5''). Freshman Payton Gross was the lone high jumper to set a new personal best, as she, Elisa Algozine and Jada-Marie Davis all ended the event with a best mark of 1.50m (4' 11'').

On the track, the freshman trio of Kaylynn Bedel, AnnMarie Gibson and Emily Bruns all set new personal bests in the mile to open the day. Bedel finished at 5:16.18 to take six seconds off her previous best while Gibson finished at 5:23.24 to take 10 seconds off her prior best. Bruns was just behind at 5:23.28, shedding four seconds off her previous best. Both Bedel and Bruns had clocked new personal bests in the 3,000m event on Friday night as well.

"It was an amazing weekend," Bedel said. "I felt really strong and excited going into both races. It was so rewarding to see the hard work I have been putting in pay off. I was really happy with both PRs and was especially happy to see how good of a weekend it was for others as well.

"I'm so proud of everyone who raced this weekend."

In the 200m dash, all five IU Indy entries set new personal bests, paced by Jahzara McAlister's 25.40 effort. Freshman Sophia Palmer ran a time of 26.24 and redshirt Skyler Ferry posted a time of 26.76 seconds. Davis finished at 27.11 and Howard ran her first-ever indoor 200m race in a time of 27.24 seconds.

The Jaguars will compete at the Fall Creek Pavilion again next weekend when they participate in the Heartland Invitational on Feb. 13-14.
