INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis women's track and field team notched five new personal bests and a relay win on day one of the Fairgrounds Invitational at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion on Friday (Feb. 6). Three different Jaguars shed time in the 3,000m event and the day ended with the distance medley relay team collecting a wire-to-wire victory.

The day started with the 60m hurdles as junior Journey Howard was the team's top finisher in a time of 9.22 seconds. Later, Jahzara McAlister paced the entries in the 60m dash with a personal best time of 7.74 seconds, taking seven-hundredths of a second off her prior best.

All three IU Indy entries in the 3,000m event set new personal standards as freshman Kaylynn Bedel led the way with a time of 10:44.39, bettering her prior best by 14 seconds. Senior Carina Alanis crossed at 10:49.65 and freshman Emily Bruns closed at 10:51.66 for a 19-second personal best.

Freshman Sophia Palmer just missed a new personal best in the 400m event, finishing at 1:00.30.

The quartet of Hannah Robbins, McAlister, Wini Barnett and Ella Colclesser put up a strong showing in the DMR, finishing at 12:35.35 for an emphatic win.

On the infield, freshman Elisa Algozine was the only Jaguar in action, competing in the long jump. She set a new personal best with a final mark of 4.26m (13' 11.75''), easily topping her previous best.

The Jaguars will return to action on Saturday (Feb. 7), beginning at 10:30 a.m.
