MASON, Ohio – The IU Indy men's tennis team will open the 2025-26 season this weekend when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for the James P. O'Connell Memorial Tournament hosted by Northern Kentucky. Teams competing this weekend include IU Indy, Ball State, Butler, Dayton, Furman, Lipscomb, NKU, Tennessee Tech and Xavier.
Head coach
Bren Vasalakis brought in four new faces for the 2025-26 season while also returning four.
Eli Mercer, the lone senior of the group, returns for the 2025-26 season and will lead the team as captain. The Jags bring back three sophomores with Konnor Gunwall,
Pumiphat Sukkho and
Jai Dutta.
IU Indy brought in one transfer, junior Soloman Dunsirn. Dunsirn joins the Jags after transferring from Western Michigan. Vasalakis and the IU Indy men's tennis team also brought in three freshman with
Cameron Kryscio,
Owen Nguyen and
Brandon Pham all set to make their college debut this weekend.
Match play is set to begin tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 26 with doubles at 9:30 AM at the Cincinnati Open in Mason, Ohio.
