THREE JAGUARS RECOGNIZED WITH #HLTENNIS ALL-LEAGUE AWARDS

Nguyen highlights the awards as Horizon League Freshman of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS – IU Indy men's tennis freshman Owen Nguyen was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Year and earned All-League Second Team honors, highlighting a strong showing for the Jaguars in the league's postseason awards, released today (April 23). Nguyen was joined on the men's side by sophomore Konner Gunwall, who also secured All-League Second Team recognition. On the women's side, junior Kally Kadzinski was named to the All-League First Team after an outstanding 2026 campaign.
 
Nguyen put together an impressive debut season, finishing with nine overall singles wins during the spring, mostly at No. 2 singles. He added nine doubles wins this spring as well, competing primarily at the one and two spots. Nguyen's performance throughout the spring earned him #HLTennis Doubles Team of the Week honors on April 1.
 
Gunwall was a steady contributor throughout the lineup, compiling seven singles points with most of those in the No. 1 spot. In doubles play, he added four wins. Gunwall earned Horizon League Singles Player of the Week honors on April 1 and was twice recognized in doubles, including February 18 and April 1.
 
On the women's side, Kadzinski continued to establish herself as a strong newcomer for the Jags, finishing the season with five singles point, including two in conference. She also recorded five wins in doubles play. Kadzinski was a two-time #HLTennis Singles Player of the Week selection (January 28, April 1) and earned Doubles Team of the Week honors on April 1 and April 8.
 
Both the men's and women's teams will kick off the Horizon League Tournament tomorrow with the men's team up first as they face Tennessee State at 11:00 AM in Cincinnati. The women's team will follow with a 3:00 PM first serve against Cleveland State.
