INDIANAPOLIS – IU Indy Athletics has announced the hiring of Matt Eastman as an assistant coach for the Jaguars volleyball program ahead of the 2026 season.
 
Eastman joins the Jaguars after building an impressive coaching résumé at the NCAA Division I and Division III levels, while also serving in a leadership role with one of Indiana's premier club volleyball programs.
 
Eastman currently serves as a head coach with The Academy Volleyball Club Indianapolis, leading the club's 14-1 team while also serving as the master coach for its 14U regional program.
 
Most recently, Eastman was an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins University, helping guide the Blue Jays to their ninth consecutive Centennial Conference championship and a Sweet 16 appearance in the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship. Johns Hopkins finished the season with a 27-5 overall record, including a dominant 17-1 mark at home. Eastman was responsible for developing opponent service plans and offensive scouting reports.
 
Prior to Johns Hopkins, Eastman spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Valparaiso University. During his tenure with the Beacons, the program compiled a 36-29 overall record, earned a bid to the 2023 National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Along with coordinating opponent service plans and offensive analysis, Eastman worked closely with Valparaiso's liberos and defensive specialists.
 
Eastman began his collegiate coaching career in 2022 as a volunteer assistant coach at UMBC. The Retrievers captured their fifth consecutive America East Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, where they faced No. 11 Penn State in the opening round. At UMBC, Eastman managed the team's statistical analysis through DataVolley4.
 
A former student-athlete, Eastman played middle blocker for the UMBC men's club volleyball team during the 2019-20 season before returning to coach the program from 2021-23.
 
Eastman joins the Jags ahead of the 2026 season.
