INDIANAPOLIS — The IU Indianapolis volleyball team lost to Marshall 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 22-25, 24-26) on Friday. The Jaguars recorded 62 kills and hit .296, but the Herd proved too much for IU Indy.

The Jags moved in front 10-8 with five straight points, including back-to-back Jillian Tippmann service aces and a Grace Purichia kill from Amanda Stephens. Marshall later scored seven straight points to stretch a 17-16 edge to 24-16, and the Jags dropped the opening set 25-18.

In the second set, the Jags turned it with a six-point run after trailing 10-9, getting three Bailey Sinish kills, a Purichia ace and a Chloe Macias and Sinish block in the push to 15-10. Marshall later pulled within 23-20, but the Jags finished the set 25-20 on a Tippmann kill from Purichia.

Purichia served the Jags to eight straight points to open the third set, getting two service aces, two Macias kills and a Sinish kill during the stretch. The Jags still led 22-18 late, but Marshall scored the final seven points to take the set 25-22.

Facing a 12-7 deficit, the Jags answered with six straight points, with Stephens scoring two kills and Tippmann and Sinish adding one apiece while Laura Roeder served the last five points of the run to move ahead 13-12. The set stayed tight from there, and Maia Long's kill tied it at 24-24 before Marshall scored the final two points to take the set 26-24.

Tippmann led the Jags with 21 kills and 13 digs. Sinish finished with 17 kills on a .424 hitting percentage and eight digs. Purichia recorded 48 assists and added three service aces. Long scored nine kills with a .533 hitting percentage.
