INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis men's track team loaded up entries in the 3,000m event at the Fairgrounds Invitational on Friday (Feb. 6), showcasing the team's distance depth inside the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. Veteran
Nolan King ran to a win in his heat of the 3,000m event while four of his teammates set new personal bests in the collegiate section later in the evening.
King spun a winning time of 8:45.50 in his heat, shedding nine seconds off his previous best. King took the lead early in the race and covered the field over the final 2K in the win. In the latter race, sophomore
Joey LaPatra led the way with a time of 8:34.35, taking three seconds off his previous best and clocking the quickest time by a Jaguar this season.
Alec Hueftle made his indoor debut with a time of 8:39.37 and sophomore
Sam Grimes finished at 8:40.27. Freshman
Caleb Webb ran his first collegiate 3K in a time of 8:50.09 and classmate
Michael Zegarski ran a time of 9:07.59.
In the first heat,
TJ Gorman finished at 9:02.25 and
Carter Schorr ran 9:18.15.
The Jags will continue action on Saturday with five runners split between the 800m and mile events.
