INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis men's track duo of
Nolan King and
Luke Shappell have been voted to the Men's Outdoor #HLTF All-Academic Team by the league's faculty athletic representatives.
King completed his degree in just three seasons with the program, registering a 3.97 grade point average while studying Sport Management. King just missed scoring in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Horizon League Championships, ultimately placing 11th overall at the outdoor championships, while also competing on the team's 4x100 relay team. He entered the postseason ranked No. 10 in the 3K steeple with a personal best time of 9:24.22, putting him No. 6 on IU Indy's all-time list.
Shappell recently finished his junior season while maintaining a 3.88 grade point average while majoring in Biology. On the track, he was the 2026 Horizon League Champion in the 1,500m event, clocking a school record time of 3:45.37 in the finals. He's now a six-time Horizon League All-Academic Team honoree during his IU Indy running career. He entered the postseason ranked No. 2 in the league in the 5,000m event with a school record time of 14:07.79 from the WashU. Distance Carnival earlier this season.
