INDIANAPOLIS – Seven IU Indy tennis student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. This award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Nate Day,
Kamil Kozerski,
Will Thurin and
Noah Viste earned the honor for the men's team while
Emma Dell,
Grace Lampman and
Calli Sokolowski represented the women's team.
Day earns the honor after posting a 3.93 GPA in Management. The senior from Wadsworth, Ohio earned 11 doubles wins this season and was named Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week with partner
Konner Gunwall three times this season. He was also named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team as well as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Kozerski maintains a 3.96 GPA while studying Exercise Science. The senior from Des Plaines, Illinois was named to the Horizon League All-League Second Team and the All-Academic Team. Kozerski earned two No. 1 singles wins in conference play with wins over Chicago State and Youngstown State. He was also named Horizon League Singles Player of the Week on March 19 and named to the Horizon League Honor Roll and the IU Indy Academic Advisor's List.
Will Thurin joins the IU Indy honorees on the CSC Academic All-District Team, earning the award after recording a 3.97 GPA in Exercise Science. Thurin, a senior out of South Bend, Indiana totals six singles points this season with two of those in Horizon League play, while also collecting 12 doubles wins with
Steven Paz. He was also named to the Horizon League Honor Roll and the IU Indy Academic Advisor's List.
Viste rounds out the men's group on the CSC Academic All-District team, posting a 3.76 GPA in Finance. The senior from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin recorded four singles wins in the second and third spot this season with 11 doubles wins. He was named ITA Scholar-Athlete and named to the Horizon League Honor Roll as well as the IU Indy Academic Advisor's List.
Emma Dell, a junior from Indianapolis, Indiana also earns the CSC Academic All-District honor after maintaining a 3.79 GPA in Sports Management. She also earned the Horizon League Second-Team honor after securing two Horizon League wins in the No. 1 singles spot. She earned wins over Milwaukee and Chicago State. Dell was named Horizon League Singles Player of the Week this week after her back-to-back wins in conference play.
Lampman, a junior from Miamisburg, Ohio earned Academic All-District after earning a 3.70 GPA while studying Accounting/Finance. She totaled six wins in the No. 5 spot and four doubles wins. Lampman was named Horizon League Singles Player of the Week on March 12. She was also named to the Horizon League Honor Roll and the IU Indy Academic Advisor's Lists.
Calli Sokolowski completes the list of IU Indy student-athletes on the list after maintaining a 4.00 in general studies. The junior from Holly, Michigan earned eight singles wins in her first season with the Jaguars.
