CARMEL, Ind. - The IU Indianapolis women's golf team posted an opening round 323 in its own Lady Jaguar Invite at Plum Creek Golf Club on Saturday (Apr. 12) and is fifth among the seven-team field heading into Sunday's finale. Junior
Yanah Rolston led the way with a 5-over 77 and is tied for ninth among the 49-player field through 18 holes.
Freshman
Cassidy Ayres is tied for 12th at 6-over 78 while both
Sydni Zebrauskas and
Nina Wojtczak shot 12-over 84 to round out the lineup. Junior
Reagan Sohn ended her day at 85 while senior
Nerea Lancho shot 81 while playing as an individual. Freshman
Alexandra Chiew posted a round of 91, also playing as an individual.
Zebrauskas led the team at the turn, carding 37 on the front nine with eight pars and a bogey on No. 7. On the back nine, Rolston evened out with an even par 36 with two birdies and two bogeys and Ayres posted a 37.
Sohn matched Rolston with a team-high two birdies while Ayres had a team-high 12 pars. The par-4, No. 4 proved to be the toughest hole on the course for the day as players averaged worse than bogey on the 367-yard hole for the day. On the flip side, the par-5, No. 17 was the course's easiest hole as the field played it to virtual par.
DePauw's Becky Williams, ranked No. 1 among NAIA players, is atop the leaderboard by five strokes at 4-under 68. Butler holds the team lead at 307 while Marian is second at 310.
Sunday's play will begin at 8:30 a.m. while the Jaguars will begin play just before 9:00 a.m.
