RICHMOND, Ky. - IU Indianapolis women's golf senior
Yanah Rolston paced the Jaguars on day one of the EKU Colonel Classic on Monday (Mar. 30), carding back-to-back rounds of 76 to sit tied for third among the 63-player field at 152 heading into Tuesday's final round. The Jaguars are sixth among the 10-team field at 640 (323-317) at the event being played at The University Club at Arlington.
"It was pretty tough conditions out there today," Rolston said. "I had a lot of patience and had to be tough. My game felt pretty good and I got into a good rhythm early in the day.
"The girls fought hard and hopefully tomorrow we can put up some good numbers."
The morning round saw Rolston lead the way at 4-over 76 while freshman
Olivia Aronhalt shot 9-over 81.
Li (Sherry) Xia and sophomore
Cassidy Ayres rounded out the group of scorers at 82 and 84, respectively. Sophomore
Lexi Stuart shot 86 in the opening round and senior
Reagan Sohn posted a round of 87 while playing as an individual.
Round two was a better showing for the Jaguars, fueled by Rolston's 76 and a round of 79 from Xia. Ayres shot 8-over 80 with four birdies in round two and Aronhalt finished at 82. Sohn posted a round of 83 and Stuart shot 84.
Aronhalt, Rolston and Xia all had two birdies in their second round.
Host EKU leads the field at 615 and Youngstown State is second at 616. YSU's Neeranuch Prajunpanich is currently atop the standings at 3-over 147 and Rolston is locked among a four-way tie for third-place, five shots off the lead.
The Jaguars were second among the field with 15 birdies on Monday, led by Ayres' four. Rolston is tied for third among the field with 23 pars through 36 holes.
The Jaguars will be paired with Akron and Marshall and will tee off at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
