INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis men's and women's track and field teams will return to action on Saturday (Feb. 8) when the Jaguars compete at the Fairgrounds Invitational inside Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The meet is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
On the men's side, head coach
Justin Roeder's team will continue to chase fast marks ahead of the upcoming Horizon League Indoor Championships. In the 800m event,
Jay Pillai,
Nick Cook and
Alec Moor key the team's entries while the trio of
Luke Shappell,
Riley Nixon and
Joey Ashman are slated for the fast heat of the mile. Shappell turned in a time of 4:10.09 and Nixon owns a personal best time of 4:10.47.
In the 3,000m event, rookie
Sam Grimes is chasing his personal best time of 8:32.58 while both
Joey LaPatra and
Mitchell Gits have also gone under 8:40 this season.
On the women's side,
Morgan Hoard is coming off a banner performance, just missing a new personal best in the shot put and registering a personal best time in the 60m hurdles (9.21). Freshman
Pa'Shence Purnell tops the team's entries in the 60m hurdles while
Jahzara McAlister has the team's quickest 60m dash time of the season.
Modupe Awosanya will take on the 400m event while freshman
Aubrey Nowaskie tops the team's entries in the 800.
Brooke Neal will run the quickest heat of the mile and
Ellie Cates headlines the team's six entries in the 3,000m event.
In the jumps,
Jade Wiese leads the team's long jump entries and
Journey Howard tops the team's high jump entries.
The Jaguars will also compete in the 4x400 relay at meet's end.
