Justin Roeder was named IUPUI's head coach in July 2022 after serving as interim head coach during the 2022 track and field season. A Fishers, Ind.-native, Roeder served as the program's top assistant from 2019 to 2021 and volunteer assistant in 2011 and 2012.
During his time as assistant, Roeder oversaw numerous facets of the program including individual and team training, recruiting, program budget and fundraising, academic oversight, coordination of travel, home meet management, social media content, alumni relations and other day to day operations of the program. He continues to work closely with members of the coaching and administrative staff, each individual student-athlete, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionist, academic advisors and other individuals and resources vital to the program's success.

Roeder was a standout student-athlete in his own right, earning a number of accolades including being a five-time individual Horizon League Champion (3,000m, 5,000m, 10,000m), ten-time Top 5 Horizon League Conference Finisher in Track & Field (3,000m, 5,000m, 10,000m), three-time NCAA Track & Field Regional Qualifier (5,000m and 10,000m), two-time NCAA Cross Country All-Region Performer (placing 16th and 18th individually) and two-time NCAA Cross Country National Qualifier. He was also a part of the historic Horizon League Cross Country Championship Teams that won 14 consecutive titles and earned a perfect score of 15 points 3 out of 4 years during his career at Butler.
Additionally, he was the recipient of the Mental Attitude Award on the Men's Cross Country and Track & Field team, earned USTFCCCA Collegiate All-Academic Honors, and was named to the Dean's List on multiple occasions.
He later pursued a professional career as a triathlete from 2012 through 2015, training with the USA Triathlon Collegiate Recruitment and Olympic Development Programs where he resided and trained at the Olympic Training Centers in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Chula Vista, California. At the high school level, Roeder was an individual State Champion in Cross Country in 2004 and four-time IHSAA All-State Cross Country runner at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers.
Before shifting to coaching at the collegiate level, he founded Roeder Multisport and began his coaching career developing personalized training programs for a number of athletes of various ages and backgrounds in running, swimming, triathlon, and cycling. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Exercise Science in 2011 from Butler University.
