LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The IU Indy softball team opens up the 2025 season this weekend (Feb. 7-8) as they travel to California for four games. The Jags will play four different teams during the invitational as IU Indy faces UC Riverside, UCLA, CSUN and Cal State Fullerton.
 
The IU Indy softball team was voted to finish seventh in the Horizon League preseason poll as announced by the league office yesterday. The Jaguars finished sixth in the conference last year with a 9-14 record and fell in the first round of the Horizon League tournament.
 
Head coach Elizabeth Beirne returns several key players from the 2024 roster including All-League First Team honorees, Kendal Calvert and Kennedy Cowan. Calvert led the team in batting average, hitting .420 (71-for-169) while also totaling 10 doubles, two triples, 39 runs, 12 RBI, five walks and 17 stolen bases with a .446 on base percentage
 
Paige McPhearson, an All-Freshman Team honoree a year ago, also returns for the 2025 season.
 
The Jags will kick off the weekend on Friday, Feb. 7 when they face UC Riverside at 2:00 PM ET. After a small break, the Jags return to the field to play host UCLA at 7:00 PM ET.
 
After the two games on Friday, IU Indy travels to Fullerton, California to play CSUN on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2:00 PM and Cal State Fullerton at 7:00 PM ET.
 
Two games will be live streamed with the Jags' game against UCLA available on B1G+ and their matchup vs. Call State Fullerton on ESPN+.
