INDIANAPOLIS - IU Indianapolis women's golf standout
Yanah Rolston carded rounds of 73 and 70 to lead the way as the Jaguars played 36 holes at the Butler Fall Invitational on Monday (Sept. 30). The Jaguars put up team scores of 306 and 305 on day one of the 54-hole event at Highland Golf & Country Club.
Rolston ended her day at 3-over 143 and is tied for fourth among the 106-player field, just three shots off the lead.
"I felt really good about my game this prior week and coming off a good round last week at Ball State, I kept that same mindset and momentum," Rolston said.
Rolston was the team's catalyst in round one, notching a pair of birdies in her opening round 73. Behind her,
Cassidy Ayres and
Sydni Zebrauskas both shot 77 and
Reagan Sohn recorded a round of 79. Sophomore
Nina Wojtczak posted an 81 and senior
Nerea Lancho paced the individual entries with a round of 82.
Round two saw Rolston lead the way at 70, including making birdie on her 36th hole of the day. Zebrauskas was next in line with 77, including two birdies, and the remainder of the lineup - Ayres, Sohn and Wojtczak - all shot 79. Lancho shot 77 from her individual spot, making 11 pars in her second round.
Rolston was one of four players to play the par-5s to 2-under on the day and tied for fifth among the field with five birdies on Monday.
Butler's Kelli Scheck leads the field at even par 140 on her home course and Youngstown State leads the team standings at 574 (284-290) heading into the final round. Butler is second at 582 and Dayton is third at 588. The Jaguars are 13th overall at 611, one shot behind Southern Indiana.
Play will resume with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday (Oct. 1) at Highland.
