YORKTOWN, Ind. - Freshman Cassidy Ayres carded rounds of 73 and 71 at the Brittany Kelly Classic at The Players Club on Monday (Sept. 16) and finds herself in fifth among the 73-player field heading into Tuesday's final round.

The Jaguars posted round scores of 302 and 309 and are eighth of 12 teams competing at 611.

Ayres was the story for the Jaguars, carding an opening round 73 and was at par or 1-under for the bulk of her round. She gave back a stroke with a bogey on her next-to-last hole of the round to close at 1-over 73. She followed with a brilliant 1-under 71 in round two, making three birdies and just two bogeys for the round.

"I felt very prepared this week and had confidence going into today, which definitely helped my game," Ayres said. "I was able to receive wonderful coaching from (Coach Broce) on a lot of shots and it helped me play smarter."

Sophomore Nina Wojtczak shot even par 72 in the morning round with four birdies and junior Reagan Sohn was countable at 6-over 78. Both Yanah Rolston and Sydni Zebrauskas shot 7-over 79, although Rolston made an eagle on the par-5, No. 14 and two birdies during her round. Freshman Alexandra Chiew shot 88 while playing as an individual.

Rolston made three birdies in her second round 78 and Wojtczak shot 79. Sohn closed at 81 and Zebrauskas posted a round of 82.

Ayres led the field with 26 pars in her two rounds and Sohn tied for fourth among the field with 23 pars.

Host Ball State leads the field at 3-over 579 and holds a 17-shot lead over second-place Dayton. BSU's Jasmine Driscoll is atop the leaderboard at 4-under 140 and teammate Jaiden Gregston is second at 3-under 141.

Play will resume with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
