INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI softball team returns to action this weekend, traveling to Greenville, S.C., to take part in the Furman Invitational. Play begins Friday (Feb. 16) and goes through Sunday morning (Feb. 18). The team will play a total of five contests, beginning with Georgetown and Furman on day one, Lipscomb and Georgetown again on Saturday and Towson on the final day.

Live stats will be provided, and you can follow along with the action at IUPUIJags.com. The game against Furman on Friday night will also be streamed on ESPN+ with the opening pitch set for 7:00 p.m.

The Jags come into the weekend with a 1-3 record after last week's Mississippi State Tournament. They began the season with a victory against UAB on Friday (Feb. 9) before falling to the hosts later that evening. Carly Metcalf was credited with the win after pitching all seven innings and allowing just one run. On day two of the tournament UAB got revenge and the hosts again downed the Jags.

Offensively, Morgan Gilbert and Kelli Riordan lead the squad with a .222 batting average. Kinsey Pfeiffer has the teams' lone home run and boasts a .500 slugging percentage. Kendal Calvert and Rachael Gregory have also recorded hits with the later also tallying a RBI on a sacrifice fly for the first run of the year.

Metcalf leads the team with 10 innings pitched followed by Alexa Holman who has four innings under her belt. Kasie Keyes leads the Jags with 16 putouts and one assist while Kayla Freiberg and Maicey Bedrick follow closely behind.

Georgetown boasts a 1-4 record after last weekend's FGCU Kickoff Classic and are led by Brooke Rebhan who registered six hits and two runs on opening weekend. The hosts hold the best record of the competing teams, winning four out of five games at the UNCW Tournament to get off to its best start since 2002. Furman gave up just 10 runs in the five games thanks to excellent pitching. Lipscomb and Towson both got off to 1-3 starts after their opening weekend tournaments at Arizona's Candrea Classic and USC Upstate's tournament, respectively.
