PORTAGE, Mich. - The IU Indianapolis women's golf team sits fifth of nine teams competing at this week's WMU Bronco Fall Classic after carding rounds of 319 and 316 at the Moors Golf Club on Monday (Oct. 7). Junior Yanah Rolston is tied for sixth among the 62-player field at 9-over 153 (79-74) heading into Tuesday's finale and freshman Cassidy Ayres is tied for tenth at 155 (79-76).

"I knew the course had some difficulties like rough and lots of sand, so I focused on solid wedging and putting the ball in good spots," Rolston said. "I stayed in a relaxed mindset all day, so that helped with consistency."

Rolston made four birdies on her first nine of the day, playing it to 35 before a tough finish pushed her opening round to 79. Both Ayres and Sydni Zebrauskas also shot 79 in round one and junior Reagan Sohn was countable at 82. Nina Wojtczak rounded out the lineup at 84 and senior Nerea Lancho shot 83 while playing as an individual.

Rolston shot a bogey-free 34 on her back nine of her second round 74 and Ayres came in at 76 with a pair of birdies. Sohn shot 82 and Wojtczak shot 84 to cap the scoring four. Zebrauskas had a second round 86 and Lancho shot 81.

Freshman Alexandra Chiew carded rounds of 96 and 91 while also playing as an individual.

Both Rolston and Zebrauskas ranked among the field's leaders with six birdies apiece and Ayres had a team-high 22 pars on Monday.

CSU Northridge's Gracie Piar leads the field at 1-over 145 (72-73) and the Matadors lead the team standings at 611. Ohio (614), Western Michigan (618) and Central Michigan (632) all sit ahead of the Jaguars. Tuesday's final round is slated to tee off at 9:00 a.m.
