JAGS BEGIN FOUR-GAME ROAD TRIP WEDNESDAY NIGHT

IUPUI will look to continue their three-game win streak

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI softball team begins a four-game road trip Wednesday night at Miami (OH). The Jags face the RedHawks on Wednesday (March 30) at 5:00 PM then travels to Youngstown State to continue Horizon League play with a three-game series.
 
IUPUI enters the week after a three-game sweep of Detroit Mercy improving their record to 5-22 overall and 3-3 in conference. Maicey Bedrick batted .556 (5-for-9) on the weekend with 13 total bases and five extra-base hits to earn #HLSB Player of the Week. She totaled seven RBI. Freshman Kendal Calvert leads the team batting .329 (28-for-85) with 16 runs.
 
Isabelle Waggner earned her first win of the season with a shutout of Detroit Mercy. She posts a 2.94 ERA (14er/33.1ip) with 13 strikeouts. Madison Bryant leads the team with three wins and 74 strikeouts in 69.2 innings pitched.
 
Miami (OH) enters the week 13-10 overall and 5-0 in the Mid-American Conference. The Jags have faced the RedHawks twice this season with a 1-1 record. IUPUI defeated Miami on Feb. 19, 5-3, but later fell on Feb. 20, 12-1.
 
Sophomore Karli Spaid leads Miami at the plate batting .400 (28-for-70) with a team-high 11 home runs and 18 RBI. Allie Cummins leads the team in RBI with 19 on eight home runs. Fifth-year student Courtney Vierstra posts a 2.23 ERA (20er/62.2ip) with a team-high 73 strikeouts.
 
The Jags will travel to Youngstown State for one game on Friday (April 1) at 3:00 PM then they will face the Penguins on Saturday (April 2) for a doubleheader with the first game starting at 12:00 PM. YSU enters the weekend 16-12 overall and 5-1 in Horizon League play.
 
Fifth-year student Yazmine Romero leads the Penguins batting .392 (38-for-97) with four doubles and six RBI. Junior Conchetta Rinaldi leads the team in RBI with 22. Elle Buffenbarger leads the Penguins on the mound with a 2.90 ERA (36er/87ip) and a team-high 106 strikeouts.
 
IUPUI will look to continue their three-game win streak as they travel to both Miami (OH) and Youngstown State.
