INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI softball team continues Horizon League play this weekend when they host Detroit Mercy for three games. The Jags will face the Titans for one game on Friday (March 25) at 3:00 PM and two games on Saturday (March 26) with the first game starting at 1:00 PM.
IUPUI enters the weekend 0-3 in conference and 2-22 overall. Freshman
Kendal Calvert leads the Jags at the plate batting .316 (24-for-76) with three RBI.
Maicey Bedrick leads the team in RBI with nine. She also has a team-high two home runs.
Sophomore transfer
Madison Bryant posts a 3.46 ERA with a team-high 61 strikeouts in six complete games. Freshman
Isabelle Waggner follows with a 3.46 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 28.1 innings pitched.
Detroit Mercy enters the weekend 0-6 in conference and 0-16 overall. Senior Taylor Gauthier leads the Titans with a .286 batting average (10-for-35) with two doubles. Freshman Jaiden Lara and junior Allison Smith lead the team in RBI with four each.
On the mound for the Titans, freshman Chloe Spitzer posts a team-low 5.46 ERA with three strikeouts in 16.2 innings while Olivia Warrington totals 25 strikeouts in 25.2 innings pitched and Liz Murphy also adds 25 fanned batters in 52.1 innings.
IUPUI has faced the Titans eight times with an overall record of 2-6. The Jags look to earn their first conference win of the 2022 season as they host Detroit Mercy this weekend at the IUPUI Softball Complex.
