FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IUPUI softball is on the road for the weekend against Horizon League newcomer and long-time rival Purdue Fort Wayne. The Jags will play doubleheaders on both Friday (April 9) and Sunday (April 11). The second day of the series was pushed back to Sunday due to impending weather in the forecast for Saturday.

QUICK HITTERS
Jordan Barnes leads IUPUI with a .321 batting average and finished 2-for-3 the last time IUPUI took the field in game two of the doubleheader IUPUI played against UIC. Barnes also leads IUPUI with a.446 on base percentage. Barnes is second on the team with three home runs, 11 RBI and 18 hits on the year.
Jennah Speth picked up two hits against UIC and has increased her total to 17 for the year. Speth is the current leader for IUPUI with five home runs and 12 RBI.
Morgan Gilbert is up to 23 hits to lead the team in her freshman campaign. Gilbert tallied two hits against the Flames and is hitting .258. She is a perfect 12-for-12 on the base paths this season.
Maicey Bedrick is leading the Jaguar lineup with six doubles. Bedrick is hitting .219 with nine RBI and is tied with
Lauren Youngblood for second on the team with 12 runs scored.
Speth leads the Jags in the circle with a 3.19 ERA and four wins on the season. In 74.2 innings pitched, Speth has 65 strikeouts.
Lexi Lucas holds a 3.88 ERA and has thrown a team-high 77.2 innings this season. Lucas has issued just eight walks all year and has 40 strikeouts.
SCOUTING PFW
Purdue Fort Wayne was swept in a doubleheader by Green Bay last Tuesday (April 6). Before the series with the Phoenix, Purdue Fort Wayne lost three of four games against Robert Morris.
Both Madeline Swart and Kyndell Ethridge hold a team-high .333 batting average. The Mastodons have hit 23 home runs as a team with three players – Ethridge, Morganne Denny, and Meagan Mullaney – tied for the team lead with four each.
Shaina Eyre leads the pitching staff with a 4.51 ERA and holds a 4-8 record. In her 71.1 innings pitched, Eyre has 53 strikeouts but has issued 43 walks.

IUPUI is 20-26 all-time against Purdue Fort Wayne and has dropped two-straight against the Mastodons. The last meeting was a 16-2 loss at Fort Wayne back in 2018.
