CHICAGO – IUPUI softball will make the trip up to Chicago for a doubleheader against UIC on Tuesday (April 6). The Jags will be looking to hand the Flames their first home loss of the season.

QUICK HITTERS
IUPUI will be looking to break a four-game losing streak after dropping all four contests against Youngstown State in the series against the Penguins last weekend.
Jordan Barnes remains the hottest bat in the lineup for IUPUI with a .314 batting average and is also leading the team with a .441 on base percentage. Barnes has 16 hits (second on the team), leads the team with six hit by pitches and has walked eight times. Barnes is also second on the team with three home runs, 11 RBI and 25 total bases.
Jennah Speth hit her fourth and fifth home runs of the season against Youngstown State to lead the team and leads the Jags with 12 RBI. Speth also had 15 hits, 11 runs and leads the team with a .492 slugging percentage. Speth is also tied for the team-lead with 11 walks. Speth has the longest current reached base streak on the team at nine.
Morgan Gilbert leads the lineup with 21 hits and is hitting .259, which is third on the squad. Gilbert is tied with Barnes for five multi-hit games on the season.
During Horizon League play, IUPUI has increased it batting average to .240 as a team. The Jags are hitting just .219 for the season overall.
Besides being a leader at the plate,
Jennah Speth is also doing it in the circle for the Jags. Speth leads the Jaguar pitching staff with a 3.38 ERA, four wins, and 60 strikeouts in 66.1 innings pitched. She is also allowing an opposing batting average of .251 on the season. In the two games against Youngstown State this past weekend, Speth finished with 14 total strikeouts.
Lexi Lucas is second on the team with a 3.64 ERA and holds a 3-6 record on the season. Lucas has been in control of strike zone all season, allowing just eight walks in 73.0 innings pitched this year.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
Morgan Gilbert is leading the Horizon League and is 68
th in the NCAA with .50 stolen bases per game. Gilbert is a perfect 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts, putting her second in the Horizon League in total stolen bases.
Lexi Lucas is 30
th in the NCAA in walks per seven innings. Lucas is allowing .90 walks per seven innings and holds a 3.62 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Both of those numbers are good for third in the Horizon League.
SCOUTING UIC
The Flames come in to the series at 14-12 overall and 11-5 in Horizon League play. UIC swept Northern Kentucky last weekend and are 8-0 on their home field this season.
Kayla Wedl is having a stellar season for the Flames leading the team in batting average (.424), hits (36), runs (36), doubles (11), home runs (7) and RBI (25). Wedl also leads the team with 11 walks and 15 stolen bases. She has only struck out seven times in 85 at bats.
ALL-TIME vs UIC
IUPUI is 4-12 all-time against UIC and has lost nine-straight games to the Flames. The last meeting was a 12-3 loss in the Horizon League Tournament in 2019.
