WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – IUPUI men's tennis faces off against Cleveland State in the first round of the Horizon League Tennis Tournament on Saturday (May 1). The Jags will face the Vikings at 3 p.m. on the campus of Purdue.
IUPUI comes in as the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will be looking to pull the upset against the No. 1 seed Cleveland State.

IUPUI enters the tournament having lost two matches against Cleveland State to end the regular season.
The Jags had two players earn yearly awards in the Horizon League as
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono was named First Team All-League and
Alex Jochim was named Second Team All-League. Mardanus-Budiono also earned the Herb Foster Sportsmanship award for the second time in his career.
Mardanus-Budiono led IUPUI with seven singles wins this season and Jochim was tied with
Eric Hollingsworth for second on the team with six singles wins.
In doubles play,
Blessing Benibo led the team with nine total wins and Jochim tallied eight. The duo of Mardanus-Budiono and
Sean Bailey were the most successful team on the roster with seven wins.
SCOUTING CLEVELAND STATE
Cleveland State finished the season undefeated at 8-0 in the Horizon League to earn the top seed in the tournament.
The Vikings boast the 2021 Player of the Year in Matthew Terry and the Freshman of the Year in Maxime Mareschal-Hay. Nico Mostardi (First Team) and Luke Phillips (Second Team) also earned All-League honors.
