INDIANAPOLIS – Following a performance that featured a perfect game,
Jennah Speth has been named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (March 23).
Speth was dominant in two starts against Cleveland State over the weekend, earning two wins against the Vikings as IUPUI went 3-1 in the series.
In the second game of the series, Speth made history, becoming the first Jaguar since at least 2001 to throw a perfect game. Speth was in complete control all game, setting down 21-straight batters with 10 strikeouts. It was the first time since 2013 that a current Horizon League school has thrown a perfect game.
To follow up her perfect game, Speth threw a two-hit complete game, allowing one unearned run and striking out six batters. The Delavan, Wis., native did not allow a hit until two outs in the bottom of the fourth, meaning Speth threw 10 2/3 of consecutive no-hit ball against the Vikings.
Speth and the rest of the Jaguars are set to take on Green Bay in a home doubleheader on Tuesday (March 23) beginning at 2 p.m.
