INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI softball takes a break from Horizon League play to play its final non-conference game of the season when the Jags travel to Eastern Illinois on Tuesday (April 23). The game against the Panthers begins at 5 p.m. ET.
IUPUI has lost four-straight non-conference games coming in to Tuesday's contest.
The Jags are on a two-game winning streak after taking the final two games of a three-game set against Cleveland State. In those two games, IUPUI was led at the plate by catcher
Sabrina Trevino. Trevino went 4-for-5 with two walks, while hitting three home runs and driving in seven. Trevino became the first Jaguar to hit two home runs in a game since
Mandy Dallas did so on April 21 of last season.
Jaida Speth leads all hitters with a .313 average and
Delaney Thompson,
Mandy Dallas and
McKenzie Loge are all hitting above .300. Dallas leads the team with eight home runs and 31 RBI while Thompson has a team-high 11 doubles.
Lexi Lucas picked up her 10
th win of the season with a one-run complete game effort against Cleveland State. Lucas holds a 5.63 ERA and has only walked 23 batters in 1.74.1 innings pitched. The lone run in the Cleveland State game was a solo home run and that has been a thorn in Lucas's side as the freshman has surrendered 40 home runs this season.
SCOUTING REPORT
IUPUI will take on an Eastern Illinois team that is 13-37 on the season and has lost two-straight games. The Panthers are just 1-9 at home this year.
As a team, EIU is only hitting .252 as a team with Mia Davis leading the team at .310. Davis also leads the team with eight home runs and 30 RBI. On the base paths, Megan Burton has stolen 19 bases on 21 attempts.
McKenna Coffman holds a 2.91 ERA in the circle but is only 4-11 on the season in 103.1 innings pitched. Jade Montgomery has thrown the most innings for the Panthers (109.0) and has a 5.91 ERA.
IUPUI and Eastern Illinois have squared off 26 times with the Panthers holding a 19-7 advantage. Eastern Illinois has won five-straight in the series.
