INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI men's tennis freshman
Alex Jochim was named Horizon League Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (April 2). Jochim finished the weekend with a 3-0 record at the No. 1 spot for the Jags as IUPUI went 2-0 to begin conference play.
Jochim began his week with a 6-3, 6-4 win at Ball State. In his first conference match of the season, the freshman picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win against Northern Kentucky and followed that up with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Wright State.
Jochim improved to 7-9 on the season and holds a 7-8 record at the No. 1 spot for head coach Brandon Currie.
It marks the second time this season that a Jaguar has been named Men's Singles Player of the Week after sophomore
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono also earned the honor on Feb. 5. Jochim also teamed with
Colton Morehart for a Men's Doubles Team of the Week award on Jan. 29.
