INDIANAPOLIS — The IU Indianapolis men's tennis team continues Horizon League play this weekend as the Jaguars host Northern Kentucky on Saturday, March 28 at the West Indy Racquet Club.
IU Indy enters the matchup with a 1-1 mark in Horizon League play after splitting its opening weekend. The Jaguars opened conference action with a strong 4-3 victory over Cleveland State before falling to Youngstown State on Sunday.
In the win over Cleveland State, IU Indy secured the doubles point and picked up key singles victories from Owen Nguyen, Cameron Kryscio and Pumiphat Sukkho to clinch the match. The Jaguars carried that momentum into Sunday, where several singles matches pushed to three sets, including battles from Konner Gunwall, Nguyen and Eli Mercer, but ultimately came up short against the Penguins.
Saturday's matchup with Northern Kentucky presents another important opportunity as the Jaguars look to build on their conference start. Controlling the doubles point will once again be a major emphasis, as IU Indy has shown success when taking early momentum into singles play. Depth across the middle of the lineup, particularly at the No. 2 through No. 5 positions, could prove decisive in what is expected to be a competitive Horizon League contest.
First serve is scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 PM at West Indy Racquet Club as the Jaguars continue conference play.
