INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indianapolis men's tennis team turned in a dominant performance on Saturday, defeating Northern Kentucky, 6-1, at the West Indy Racquet Club.
The Jaguars secured the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 before rolling through singles play with five straight victories to seal the match.
In doubles action, the tandem of
Owen Nguyen and
Cameron Kryscio edged NKU's Emilio Bravo and Jackson Poulos in a tightly contested tiebreak, 7-6 (7-5), while
Eli Mercer and
Pumiphat Sukkho added a decisive 6-2 win at No. 3 to earn the point.
IU Indy carried that momentum into singles, where
Konner Gunwall set the tone with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1. Nguyen followed with a straight-sets victory at No. 2, 6-4, 7-5, and Mercer added another point at No. 3 with a 7-5, 6-3 decision.
Kryscio delivered one of the most commanding performances of the day at No. 4, cruising to a 6-0, 6-4 win, while
Jai Dutta closed out the Jaguars' scoring with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
Northern Kentucky's lone point came at No. 5 singles, where H. Vidaller Ranciaro defeated Sukkho in three sets.
With the win, the Jaguars improve to 2-1 in Horizon League play.
