INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI will look to bounce back from a sweep at the hands of Green Bay with a three-game series against Oakland at the IUPUI Softball Complex over the weekend.

The Jags and the Grizzlies will begin the series with a single game on Friday (April 12) with first pitch at 5 p.m. The two teams will then square off for a double header on Saturday (April 13) with first pitch at 1 p.m. The softball program will honor its four seniors before the first game on Saturday.

IUPUI fell from first in the Horizon League to fourth with a 6-4 record after losing all three games at Green Bay in a mid-week series. In two of the three games, IUPUI's offense struggled as the Jags lost 7-1 and 7-0. In the middle game of the series it was the pitching staff that had issues as IUPUI lost 14-13, giving up three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Redshirt sophomore Delaney Thompson leads the Jags lineup as the only player hitting above .300 with a .306 average. Thompson also leads the team with eight doubles to go along with three home runs and 19 RBI. Haley Ginger and Jaida Speth are second on the team with a .294 average. IUPUI has eight players that have driven in at least 16 runs with Mandy Dallas leading the way at 22. Dallas is also the leading home run hitter on the squad with five.

In the circle, freshman Lexi Lucas holds a 5.65 ERA and holds an 8-12 record. Lucas has only walked 16 batters in 145 innings this season.

IUPUI must now turn its attention to an Oakland team that won its last two Horizon League games, beating league-leading UIC 7-6 and 5-0 in a double header.
