HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The IUPUI women's golf team will get an advance look at the site of the 2019 Horizon League Championships this week when the Jaguars participate in the Motor City Cup, hosted by Oakland University at Mission Inn Resort. The event will be match play scoring and will consist of three rounds over two days (Feb. 4-5) at Mission Inn. IUPUI is paired with Northern Kentucky for the opening match and will face either UIC or Youngstown State in the second round. The other side of the eight-team bracket consists of Oakland, Creighton, Loyola and Valparaiso.

Head coach Jamie Broce's squad won the 2018 Horizon League Tournament on the same course last season and returns four-fifths of the championship lineup in Marion Debove, Nicole Howard, Elizabeth Orr and Amelie Svejda. However, injuries took a toll on the Jaguars' during the fall season as Svejda has missed significant time already this season, as have newcomers Sloane Winders and Reece Malapit. 

Debove has continued to be her dominating self, registering a 73.75 scoring average in 12 rounds during the fall while defeating 97 percent of her opponents. She collected top-10 finishes in all five of her entries, including two tourney titles. Winders is second on the team with a 78.20 stroke average in just five rounds while Svejda is third at 79.00 in six rounds. 

Howard, who will miss time to open the spring, sits at 79.08 and true freshman Kara Blair checks in at 80.67. Orr recorded an 83.17 mark in 12 rounds and Malapit was limited to just one tournament, where she posted two rounds of 84. 

As a team, IUPUI had a team scoring average of 312.08 for the fall and closed with a tournament win at the Braun Intercollegiate. The Jags defeated 79 percent of their opponents during the fall, which included the tournament win and a runner-up finish at the NKU Fall Classic.
