SOFTBALL TRAVELS TO PRESEASON FAVORITE UIC FOR MIDWEEK SERIES

Jaguars begin the second half of conference play against the UIC Flames.

CHICAGO, Ill. – IUPUI softball will head to Chicago to face off against the Horizon League preseason favorite UIC Flames on Tuesday (April 10) and Wednesday (April 11).
 
IUPUI is scheduled to play one game at 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday and play a double header that starts at 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
 
Coming off of a 3-2 week and a series win over Northern Kentucky, head coach #Elisabeth Beirne#'s squad will begin its second half of the season tied for second place in league play.
 
IUPUI (10-20, 6-5 Horizon) has been lead by sophomore #Megan Overton# who holds a 9-9 overall record and has won her last three outings. Last week, Overton only allowed one run in 20 innings, throwing back-to-back complete game shutouts against Northern Kentucky. In those last three starts, Overton finished with a 0.35 ERA and 16 strikeouts to just three walks.
 
Three Jaguars finished with a batting average over .400 over the last five games, led by #Delilah Wright# who hit .500 and scored four runs. #Haley Ginger# hit .438 (7-for-16), hit a double and finished tied for the team-lead with five RBI. #Delainey Turner# hit .417 (5-for-12) and scored four runs, while also driving in one.
 
The Jags also hit two home runs, with Overton hitting the first home run of her IUPUI career and #Adison Lorsung# hitting her first long ball of the season. #Mandy Dallas# also hit two doubles and #Kristin London# also drove in a team-high five runs.
 
SCOUTING UIC
 
The Flames come in to the series with a 14-15 overall record and are 3-3 in Horizon League play. UIC's last Horizon League series against Cleveland State was postponed due to weather.
 
Lexi Watts leads UIC with a .415 batting average and is the only player on the roster hitting above .300. The Flames have only hit five home runs on the season with two players tied for the lead with two. Skylee James leads the Flames with 21 RBI.
 
The success for the Flames come from the circle with two players posting a sub-3.00 ERA. Marley Hanlon leads UIC with a 2.65 ERA but only holds a 1-2 record. Allie Trudeau is 7-6 and has thrown eight complete games with a 2.97 ERA. Trudeau has 55 strikeouts in 77.2 innings pitched.
