4/26/2018 10:51:00 AM

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI softball will play its final home series of the season when the Jags play host to Detroit Mercy for three games over the weekend at the IUPUI Softball Complex.

IUPUI and Detroit Mercy will meet for a double header on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. and finish the series on Saturday with one game at 3 p.m. Before the game on Saturday, IUPUI will honor the careers of seniors #Ashley Ousley# and #Delilah Wright#.

The Jags are in a battle for qualifying for the Horizon League Softball Tournament, currently holding on to the sixth and final spot. IUPUI has one more loss than both Green Bay and Northern Kentucky but holds three more wins over each team as well. While the Jags will finish their Horizon League schedule against the Titans, every other team will have at least three more games in the season after this weekend.

Head coach #Elisabeth Beirne# will be looking for strong outings from sophomore #Megan Overton# in the circle. Overton has won 12 of the 13 wins for IUPUI and holds a 3.02 ERA. In 153 innings, Overton has a Horizon League leading 121 strikeouts. Batters are hitting just .244 off of the Greenwood, Ind., native.

At the plate, Wright leads the team with a .321 batting average and is tied for the team lead with 36 hits. Wright is also on a six game hitting streak, the longest current streak on the team. #Mandy Dallas# is the only other Jaguar hitting above .300 at a .308 clip. Dallas leads the team with nine home runs and 28 RBI and is tied for the team lead with seven doubles.

#Haley Ginger# is second on the team in hits (34), runs scored (16) and RBI (17) and is one of four Jaguars to hit a home run this season.

#Kristin London# has the best on base percentage on the team, reaching base 41.4 percent of at bats. This is primarily due to London having been hit by a pitch a Horizon League leading 16 times. London is currently seventh in the NCAA in hit by pitch per game at 0.41 per game. Overton is second in the league and 15th in the nation at 0.36 hit by pitch per game.

ALL TIME SERIES
IUPUI and Detroit Mercy have played just two games against each other all-time. Detroit Mercy won both of those meetings that took place in 2003.

SCOUTING DETROIT
Detroit comes in to the weekend with an 11-24 overall record and 6-7 mark in Horizon League play. The Titans have lost two-straight games, one to Cleveland State and one to Bowling Green.
