INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI softball begins its last Horizon League road series of the season when the Jags make the trip to Rochester, Mich., to take on Oakland.
The Jags (12-25, 8-9 Horizon) will play a single game against the Golden Grizzlies on Friday (April 20) at 3 p.m. and finish the series with a double header on Saturday (April 21) beginning at 1 p.m. Both games on Saturday can be seen on ESPN3.
IUPUI will look to pull closer to a spot in the Horizon League tournament. Currently, the Jags sit in the sixth and final qualifying spot and have six games left in the conference season.
Where IUPUI could fall in the conference standings is difficult to predict as the Jags have played the most conference games this season of any team in the Horizon League.

Mandy Dallas# is tops on the squad with seven home runs and 21 RBI. Dallas is also tied with #
Haley Ginger# for the team lead with seven doubles. Ginger is second on the team with 16 RBI.
Due to injuries, #
Megan Overton# is will be looked on to shoulder much of the load in the circle for the rest of the season. Overton leads the team with 11 wins and a 3.14 ERA. The sophomore is also tops on the team with 138 innings pitches and 107 strikeouts. Overton has thrown 18 complete games this year, which is just three shy of tying the school record for complete games in a season.
SCOUTING OAKLAND
The Golden Grizzlies are 11-21 overall and hold a 5-5 record in conference play. Oakland won its last two games, sweeping a two-game set against Northern Kentucky that was a makeup of a previous series that had been rained out.
Madison Jones is the lone Golden Grizzly to be hitting over .300 this season, leading the team with a .361 average as well as seven home runs and 20 RBI. Cammie Brummitt is second on the team with 17 RBI.
Oakland is not aggressive on the base paths as the team is just 18-for-25 in stolen base attempts, led by Jones who is 5-for-6.
In the circle, Haley Zemmer holds the best ERA on the team at 4.05. Zemmer holds an 8-5 record in 16 starts and has gone the distance seven times in those starts. Opponents are hitting .254 on the season against Zemmer, who has 54 strikeouts in 86.2 innings pitched.
Oakland has used five pitchers on the season and as a staff hold a 5.44 ERA.
