INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI softball team takes a break from Horizon League competition to take on a former Summit League rival in a midweek matchup on Wednesday (April 18).
The Jags will make the two hour drive north to Fort Wayne to take on the Fort Wayne Mastodons at 3 p.m.
IUPUI took two of three games in its last series against Cleveland State as the Jags look to earn a spot in the Horizon League Softball Championship. #
Megan Overton# won two games in the series, pitching both games of the Friday double header, going 16 total innings. Overton finished with a career-high 12 strikeouts in game one against Cleveland State.

Mandy Dallas# hit three home runs in the series with the Vikings including two two-run shots in game three. Dallas hit .500 over the three game set and led the Jags with seven RBI.

Haley Ginger# delivered one of the biggest hits of the series with a walk-off solo home run in the second game of the series and #
Delainey Turner# also had a walk-off single in game one as the Jags won in the bottom of the ninth in the first extra inning game of the season for head coach #
Elisabeth Beirne#'s squad.

Delilah Wright# is the leader in the clubhouse with a .306 batting average and has gone 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts. The Jags have had a strong year on the base paths, going 39-for-46 overall and #
Maddie Keeley# leads the team with 13 stolen bases.
Dallas and Ginger are tied for the team lead with 31 hits each, Dallas has seven doubles to Ginger's six.
In the circle, IUPUI is led by Overton who holds a 2.80 ERA and an 11-11 record over 21 starts. Overton has thrown 18 complete games and three shutouts this season. The sophomore has 105 strikeouts in 135.0 innings and opposing batters are hitting just .242 off of the righty.
SCOUTING FORT WAYNE
Fort Wayne holds a 15-25 overall record and will play at Purdue on Tuesday (April 17) before taking on the Jags on Wednesday.
The Jags and Mastodons have already split two games this year with IUPUI winning 6-5 in the first game of the season and Fort Wayne winning 3-2 in the third game of the year for each team.
Demitra Burns leads the team with a .333 batting average and Lacey Wilzbacher is second on the squad, hitting .313. Three players are tied for the team lead in both home runs (3) and RBI (19).
