JAGUARS RETURN HOME FOR SERIES AGAINST CLEVELAND STATE

IUPUI will play three games against the Vikings over the weekend.

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI softball returns home to the IUPUI Softball Complex over the weekend, playing three games against Cleveland State on Friday and Saturday.

Due to potential weather on Saturday, the series will now feature a double header on Friday (April 13) beginning at 1 p.m. and the final game is scheduled to take on place on Saturday (April 14) at 1 p.m.

IUPUI (10-23, 6-8 Horizon) will look to rebound from a three-game sweep at the hands of preseason favorite UIC. The Jags were outscored 24-7 in the three games against the Flames and allowed eight home runs.

#Maddie Keeley# was the best Jag at the plate over the series, hitting .429 (3-for-7) and drove in a run. Both #Haley Ginger# and #Mandy Dallas# finished with a team-high two RBI and Dallas hit her team-leading fourth home run of the season.

The Jags lead the Horizon League having been hit by 37 pitches this season. #Kristin London# leads the team having been hit by 13 pitches and #Megan Overton# has been hit 12 times.

Overton is second in the league with a 2.59 ERA and strikeouts (86). The sophomore leads all pitchers in the Horizon League with nine wins.

SCOUTING CLEVELAND STATE
Cleveland State will come in to the series with IUPUI holding an 11-19 overall record and a 1-2 conference record. The Vikings only Horizon League series this season was a 1-2 series loss to Green Bay at home.

Cleveland State is in the middle of the pack both offensively and in the circle. The Vikings are fifth in the league in batting average, hitting .246, and sixth in the league with a team ERA of 4.62. Mackenzie Joecken leads the team with a .408 average and only Mel Woodard (.354) and Riley Ries (.324) are hitting above .300.

In the circle, the Vikings have used seven pitchers this season with Macy Kaisk leading the way with a 2.98 ERA. Kaisk holds a 3-5 record in nine starts and has 19 strikeouts in 42.1 innings. Joecken has made the most starts for Cleveland State with 10 and holds a 4.83 ERA in her 53.2 innings of work.
