INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI men's tennis earned a 5-2 home win over Eastern Illinois on Friday afternoon (Jan. 26).
IUPUI (2-2) moved to 2-0 at home with the win over Eastern Illinois (0-3) as
Bradley Luetschwager improved to 4-0 in singles matches this season.
The Jags picked up the doubles point as
Jac Newis and
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono won the No. 2 doubles match 6-4 and
Sean Bailey and
Grant Weaver won the No. 3 doubles match 6-2.
Luetschwager, who has been extremely solid for the Jags early this season, took the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-0. Bailey also earned a win in singles at the No. 2 spot, picking up a 6-0, 6-2 win. Mardanus-Budiono went 2-0 on the day with a win at the No. 5 singles spot 6-0, 6-0.
Eric Hollingsworth earned the Jags their fifth point of the day with a three set thriller, winning 4-6, 6-2, 12-10.
The Jags will be on the road for their next match with a trip to the University of Kentucky on Feb. 2.
