EAST LANSING, Mich. - IUPUI men's tennis fell to Michigan State by a score of 5-2 to begin its 2018 season.

The Jags earned two singles wins in the matchup against the Spartans. Playing at the No. 4 singles spot, Bradley Luetschwager picked up a singles victory 6-4, 6-3, beating Ivan Rakic. Freshman Ethan Mardanus-Budio picked up his first collegiate dual match win at the No. 5 singles spot over Billy Shisler, winning 6-3, 6-3.  

In other singles action, Jac News fell in No. 1 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2, #David Beasley fell 6-2, 6-1 in his No. 2 singles match, Eric Hollingsworth earned a set win in the No. 3 singles match but fell 3-6, 6-3, 10-1 and Grant Esposito lost in the No. 6 singles match 6-1, 6-4.

In the doubles matches, the team of Beasley and Luetschwager fell in the No. 1 match by a score of 6-4. It was equal 6-1 defeats for the teams of Mardanus-Budio and Kyle Whittaker at the No. 2 spot and Matt Moe and Grant Weaver at the No. 3 spot.

IUPUI will play its first home match on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the West Indy Racquet Club when the Jags play host to Belmont.
