EAST LANSING, Mich. – IUPUI's men's tennis team kicks off its season at Michigan State on Saturday afternoon with the match against the Spartans starting at 4 p.m.
The Jags will look to bounce back from a 7-21 record last season as they compete in the Horizon League for the first time. IUPUI will face a familiar foe to begin the season as IUPUI and Michigan State have met in each of the last three season.
Michigan State has won the last three matches against the Jags but last season, IUPUI almost upended the Spartans in Indianapolis as the Jags fell 4-3.
IUPUI will be led by senior
David Beasley who became the all-time wins leader in IUPUI history during the fall season. Beasley will be joined by fellow seniors,
Bradley Luetschwager,
Matt Moe and
Jac Newis.
Michigan State finished last season 11-18 overall and will begin their season earlier on Saturday with a match against another Horizon League opponent in UIC.
IUPUI will return from Michigan State for its home opener on Saturday, Jan. 20 against Belmont.
