INDIANAPOLIS – Another loss in what is now an 11-meet losing streak, the IUPUI men's tennis team (6-19, 0-3) is in a dire, must-win situation heading into the team's final Summit League dual-meet next weekend. The Jags fell 0-7 to Denver Saturday (April 15), failing to take a set in the loss.
The Jags saw the No. 2 doubles match go unfinished, as
David Beasley and
Bradley Luetschwager had to abort their 4-4 tie after the Jags fell at the No. 1 and 3 spots.
Heading into singles play, the Pioneers were relentless in dispatching of the Jags, recording six total sets in which they allowed their opponents to win two or less games.
Marcus Nalley had one of the tightest battles, as he grinded to a 5-7 defeat in his first set against Sean Huynh at the No. 4 singles. He fell in the second set, 1-6.
Bradley Luetschwager was also able to push his second set to a lengthy distance, as he was defeated in a 5-7 second set at the No. 5.
With five men's tennis programs in the Summit League and four advancing to the Summit League Tournament, the Jags are tied with South Dakota State at 0-3 in conference play. The Jags host the Jackrabbits Friday (April 21) at 11:30 a.m. EST to decide who the final team in the tournament will be.
