MUNCIE, Ind. – In what is building up to be a nightmarish stretch, the IUPUI men's tennis team (6-18, 0-2) saw their losing streak grow to 10 meets and 13 of their last 14, as the Jags fell 2-5 to Ball State (11-9) Wednesday afternoon (April 12). The Jags have just three meets remaining on the 2017 docket, two of which will come against Summit League opponents.
Despite the loss, the Jags continued to get solid production from their two standouts this season, as
David Beasley and
Bradley Luetschwager were both victorious in their respective matches. Beasley continues to lead the team with a 12-9 record in dual-meet singles this season, as he came up with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Nemanja Guzina at the No. 3. Luetschwager followed with his own straight-set effort, defeating Jan Jirus 7-6, 6-2 in the No. 5 spot.
Doubles play proved to be a struggle once again, as IUPUI collectively dropped to 21-39 in two-man action. Losses came 3-6 and 1-6 at the No. 1 and 2 spots, before an unfinished 4-4 tie marked the third doubles match.
With the loss, the Jags will look to host the reigning Summit League champion Denver Pioneers at the West Indy Racquet Club Saturday (April 15) at noon.
