INDIANAPOLIS – Wrapping up dual-meet play prior to the start of a multi-week break, the IUPUI men's tennis team (6-9) couldn't hold up against the strong play of Northern Illinois (11-5), falling 1-6 Saturday (March 4) to split their weekend events.
The Jags were only able to generate one point off of a pair of match wins, as the Jags won at the No. 2 doubles spot and the No. 4 singles spot.
In doubles play, teammates
David Beasley and
Kyle Whittaker had a strong showing in the second spot, as the duo posted a 6-3 set, despite the Jags suffering losses at the No.1 and 3 to lose the doubles point.
In singles play, Beasley continued his strong play, as he battled his way to a 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory over Carlos Manzanas.
The loss brings about a three-week break from schedule play, as IUPUI will return to action March 25 against Oral Roberts to open up Summit League play.
