TULSA, Okla. – Set to begin Summit League action for the first time, the IUPUI men's tennis team (6-12) will head southwest to face Oral Roberts (6-9) Saturday (March 25) at 12 p.m. EST. The Jags are looking to shake loose a four-meet losing streak and seven out of their last eight overall.
The Jags have been paced on the season by the strong play of
David Beasley, who has led the team with a 10-6 record in dual-meet singles matches. Teammate
Bradley Luetschwager has gone 8-7, as the duo are the only pair of Jags with winning records in solo action. Beasley has combined with
Kyle Whittaker to put up a near-pristine 5-1 doubles record, the best by IUPUI so far.
Luetschwager and
Steven Christie have both been named Summit League Player of the Week winners this season, as the Jags have had flashes of magnificence throughout the season.
The Golden Eagles ended a draining six-meet losing streak with a 4-2 victory recently over Bethune-Cookman (March 16). ORU finished the 2016 season with a 14-11 overall record while going 3-2 in conference play. They eliminated the Jags in the first round of the Summit League Tournament last season.
